A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

We use my dad's beer making pot. It's huge. He makes 5 gallons at a time. I recommend scalding outside because it stinks. And is messy. But boy, the feathers just peel right off.

If you process your own turkeys, what do you use to scald them in? I usually skin or occasionally dry pluck, but my friend wants to scald her big chickens. Any suggestions?

I use a 1 1/2 bushel metal container to scald them in followed by the same size container in plastic to soak them in salt water over night.

There might be some error, partially my fault, I had a "calico Hatch" not a calico turkey.

I have a bunch of different color turkeys not one turkey with different colors......

I have two though with leg problems, one seems to have a Knee problem another a hip/thigh problem.

I am afraid the thigh problem is going to the chamber. I have hopes on the knee problem, it is sitting in the orthopedic cup. I do not remember but that one could be Coffees. She is coming to get her poults this morning,.

Queenie is on the road to recovery! Her ankle is still swollen but it looks like the swelling is slowly going down. She's been up walking on it and complaining about not being with her flock but I know if I put her out there, she's just going to jump and hurt it again. I'm guessing only a couple more days til she can go back out.

Moma Ethel sure is keeping them in line. You weren't kidding about your calico hatch. Little bit of everything in there!

so far, I've only lost one poult. It must have gotten under the horse's feet, because it was in the pasture on one of the trails, but I can't keep those silly things out of the horse pasture. There are still 14 left, 7 burbon red and 7 burbon palm crosses.
