This has been my first try at raising turkeys. Hatched 9 Sweetgrass in June and have kept 6. My babies are growing up on me.

Countrygirl- beautiful poults! Just have to wait and see if you have a boy in there :). Some of them hide their gender well. I had a very late blooming boy and 3 very early blooming boys...

Jophus- Those are gorgeous sweetgrass babies! I want one

Well we are without power now.... sigh. Put the birds to bed early so that I wouldn't be fumbling around in total darkness. They say the worst should hit late tomorrow afternoon. Trees down all over the county and the coast, so I came home early today to check on the birds. Have to work tomorrow, so will plug in electronics and recharge while I'm there. Maybe it'll come back on tonight :fl. Not much excitement thankfully, retrieved some of the shop sheet metal roofing off the front lawn and a few branches but nothing big so far!

Will batten down the hatches and put on my rain gear :p

Thanks fiestychick did you ever hear of being able to tell gender by the shape of their poop I heard tom was in a shape if a J and a hen in the shape of a curly q ...I agree jophus beautiful birds

I've heard of the "poop gender test", but have no idea if there's any truth to it. My bourbon boys were easy to tell what they were early (even though I wanted hens lol).

My two BBW are toms and I find j shaped poop everywhere and with the young poults I have been finding j shaped and curly q I keep trying to watch who gives what but of course you don't always get what you want

I have extremely serious doubts you will be able to tell the sex of a turkey by the Poop making a J or not.

I put this in the same category as holding a ring on a string and watching it spin to determine sex.

Now for todays story,,,

Last night I had 17 poults in the pen at bedtime. I did not see "snitch" in the group. I went into the barn and Snitch was sitting on a rail with Bert expecting to spend the night inside. I had to run him out and into the turkey pen.

Here are a couple of pictures of Snitch.

Obviously Snitch is marching to his own drum. Are you sure he is a he? Why does he look like a she to me? Must be the pics.

Feisty, hang in there. Saw your weather on the National news this morning. Looked fierce. Hopefully you won't have any damage.

I have no idea if snitch is a he or she, I am hoping she.

He/she just prefers to not hang with the turkeys. I had one poult that was raised for 2 months with a couple chicks, I did not mark it. I am thinking Snitch could be that one.

Is it the same poult Sidekick adopted? Well my guess is Snitch is an Ethel daughter. Due to the "talking". Just my impression....

Hope Feisty is ok. Just saw a weather update....pretty rough in the Northwest.
