Sigh....another night of severe storms for us. Feedman, hope your ok up there. Get power yet?

Finally about 4 pm power came on.

Haven't been able to enjoy it. Still stuck at work.

I'm sorry JR sometimes, it just happens unfortunately.

I have a hatch going on now. No poults this week. Supposed to be lav ameraucanas, CCL,and silkies. First chicks out...1 CCL boy and 1 lav am! Love those silvery lav babies

Yep that is a quick way to cook or chill them especially if there is just one. I will often leave a single chick, keet, poult in the incubator until others hatch. If necessary, I will add a bottle cap of water and/or gro gel. I never trust myself to get it right without actually measuring the temperature at the bedding level. It saves me a lot of hassles.

I leave poults in the hatcher 24 hours before putting them in the brooder and hatch guide chicks for them. It helps but poults are delicate

Great minds think alike. I leave them in the hatcher if I only have a couple. otherwise it seems pasty butt and death are 92.17% likely to occur.
