A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Stephcraig78: welcome back. Looks and sounds like a hard molt to me.

Did you ever get a tom?

Memphis: no lapper training for the new poults. Someone was looking for turkeys showed them those and they took them all. Even the mix.

No we were waiting for spring to start looking for a Tom. Went to feed store and saw some baby chicks today and the urge was almost too strong to walk away empty handed. Husband had to keep saying let's go. Haha I'll get my Tom though. Getting rid of our rooster as his aggressive behavior hasn't gotten any better and I'd say is worse. He made the mistake of jumping repeatedly at husbands leg today and that is the end. Too small to mess with butchering so gonna see if anyone wants him and maybe try a silkie rooster next time. Or maybe none for awhile. Let the girls relax and not be chased around for bit.

Bantambird! What cuties! What variety?

Feedman....I can see someone wanting them all! Hard to resist.

Another gloomy day. Rather cold...at least for here....didn't get out of the low 50's with wind. Lapper with built in hand warmers came in handy! We did get a long graze in next door in the field'o seed heads. Visited one of my older neighbors. She gets a kick out of them & insists on giving them one bite each of a piece of whole wheat bread. Why one bite only, and what she does with the rest of the slice is beyond me. I admit I feel like a dork walking down the sidewalk with two turkeys trudging behind. They then spent most of the day loafing around the yard. They were tired turkeys at bedtime.

Fiesty....did you float away out there?? Hope all is well....

Quick question for the experts here. my hens are now laying, yay!!! They are s year old, been laying a couple months now. NY question is, two hens are really truly body ... On the sane nest. They cram themselves in there, and only one leaves at a time.
One is a palm, one is a Bourbon. Is this common behavior?
