I am having problems with my chicks. 4 of my baby turkeys have died and 2 of my chickens so far more coming I fear. The chicks become lethargic sometimes loose their appetite then die on the ground. I have them on straw and they have been on the stuff for a couple weeks. The 2 chicks were from a younger batch and all of my turkeys are from the same hatch. The brooders are 50 feet away from each other in separate rooms. This exact thing happened last year and killed nearly 1/2 of my chicks. I need some help and quick. I already have them on medicated water mix of tetracycline.

OK I had Cocci this spring and this is what I did to help. First off make sure you power clean their feeder, waterer and anything else in the brooder. I would put them on Wood chips so its easier to clean up because you will want to clean their brooder once a day at least. Get them on water with Corid in it. We use it for cattle and I used it for chicks this spring. Get them on Corid ASAP. You will notice them getting better really fast. Now if this isnt Cocci I would do something like change beeding to shavings. The straw could have some pesticide on it that could be killing them. I'm not sure thats it either but those are two things to try... Best of luck and I gope you can figure this out.
