Humor for Ralphie and any one else who has dealt with a turkey hen with newly hatched poults.

I was down on my hands and knees under a Juniper tree stealing two Tri-Color Mottled Black poults from a two year old hen. She was not happy with me but was keeping out of my way. She finally had enough and full body slammed right into the top of my head. Fortunately it was with her breast and not with her feet. I placated her later by giving her more eggs that were within a day of hatching.

I need more turkeys . After those first two hatched I decided I need more

I know what you mean! I only had one batch of poults hatch this year, and I needed a new tom so I can hatch more.

Adam had a good 5-6 inch beard when we butchered him. He was only 2 years old. I may just depends on the tom. Last fall, I brought home a free CCL roo after I lost mine and he was in much the same condition as your tom. They said that he was typing and only just started to crow but his feathers were a mess (the said he was molting), his scales on his legs were bad, and he had good sized spurs. Quarentine, ivermectin, essential oil/soapy water scrub with an old toothbrush on his legs (and a coat of vaseline) everyday and you'd never know he's the same boy. I still don't know his age but I'm impressed with how he improved and how now hours babies look. Hopefully your tom will be a similar story.

One of my hens didn't get the job done. Not sure which one yet. all eggs clear. Am exhausted just got the chickens out of winter housing and into their new house. Also upset the pecking order as I kept B-Team roos. The A-Team from this year is done and going to freezer camp.

btw, you guys were right about my weird hen. She doesn't have any eggs but is really acting broody. She hisses at us when we give her food and water.

It's going to be gloves and a coat tomorrow morning to deal with a hen that coils up and strikes like a snake when I steal her babies.

Sprinkles is in the house tonight and not doing well. He's very wobbly and weak. I thought he was doing ok out there in the seperation pen, just waiting to get big enough to integrate, but apparently, he's been on a hunger strike I guess the other turkeys were reaching through the fencing when they could to steal some of his food, making it look like he was eating what I was giving him. When I brought him in, all he wanted to do was snuggle. He's like a magnet now! It was hard work to pry him away from me for 2 seconds to feed him! I cooked up a turkey egg, blended it with water, a few drops of tri-vi-sol, and 2 drops of mallasses and forced it down his throat with an eye dropper. I have him in the bathtub now with a couple chicks for company. They barely reach his knees but he needs someone, other than me, for the night to be with. I hope I can nurse him back to health. He's such a sweetie but a big baby too. Looks like he'll be back in the brooder stomping around again for a while. Too big for a brooder but too small for the coop. What am I going to do with him!

New to turkeys! Fell in love with this big Tom call him Tiny, lol.
Very affectionate lets me hug and kiss him follows me all over.
He showed up with a crooked neck Sunday. Really worried, firs I thought it was crop issue then reading byc is think it is Mycoplasma Meleagaridis infection. I will start treating him with Tylan in water plus the polyViSol etc as described in byc from Kuntrygirl. Hope this works I love this big guy! Please advise if you know of something I should do, thanks
