A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Bantambird....I'm afraid I would have ditched the chores to spy on them! But then, I'm just a turkey nerd. I can sit & watch them

I want to see pics of your poults Holm!

Never heard of a regal red

It was before you joined this thread and Ralphie was still into Rusty Slates. Two of the methods of producing a Rusty Slate are to either cross a Bourbon Red or a Regal Red with a Self Blue (aka Lavender). The Bourbon Red cross will be a Rusty Slate split to Bronze and the Regal Red cross will be a Rusty Slate split to Black Winged Bronze.

Either way you get a turkey that has 3 color gene pairs that are heterozygous. If the Rusty Slates are bred to each other, they can produce up to 27 different color varieties. The varieties that can be produced by the ones carrying the hidden recessive bronze gene and the ones carrying the hidden recessive Black Winged Bronze gene produce two different sets of color varieties.

@R2elk he looks like neither of those two poults. He actually has grey down up on his back and then solid white on the rest of his body except for his little orange head.

Ha ha ... hey, no turkey porn matches Kathy's pea-porn colection! That picture of the peacock and camera case kills me every time! Seriously, R2elk, I would be interested in how the rest of the flock reacts to some wild hen showing up.
Holm...good idea...send your poult pic to Kevin. So what is it?? What color is it? Maybe it will look like dad. Its darn cute!
