R2elk...thats an incredible bee shot. Got a kick out of Kathy's "barrel roll comment"! Aren't we due for a photo bomb?? Turkeys, guineas, bees...your photos are lovely!
Boy did we have a hot & humid weekend. I've had an explosion of useless weeds in the turkey/chicken yard. I don't use chemicals around my birds/dogs, so I've been hand digging them out. I take a stool & a box fan! Only way I could stay out for more than 10 minutes. My issue is both turkeys would hang out between me & the fan effectively blocking my air. And the chickens had to stick their beaks into what ever I was digging. Annie would get up & look into my bucket of weeds and pretty much pull them out & scatter them. Takes twice as long to get as anything done with all my helpers. However, I do enjoy their company! Twerps!

Flashpoint...we call them lightningbugs too. My uncle lives outside of Gettysburg. It's pretty there.

R2elk...figured you had bees this year. Several years ago on one of my trips up to Missouri a semi loaded with boxes/hives overturned. They actually closed the expressway and diverted all traffic to service roads. Seems they (are there bee farmers?) winter bees down here & relocate them north in the spring.

It is not uncommon to have a semi load of bees turnover here at least every couple of years. The people here send their hives to California for the winter to pollenize the nut trees. They make big money from wintering their bees in California and it sure beats the winters here for the bees.

Ok, I have caught up, The new format showing the postings on each page at the bottom is confusing to us old and feeble minded...
I saw Memphis's post to R2elk on the picture and thought I missed it so I went back several pages looking for it.. Then gave up and went ahead and found it.,.WOW>..

I was going to try bees but have decided not too. My BIL has 3-4 hives and has had them a few years he has yet to harvest honey, something is always happening. The more I read about bees, the more I think I will just buy the honey.

And now I went and forgot what else I was going to say... I have new poults under the topper. No idea how many or what kind, she had 11 eggs. She is a rattlesnake mother, we get close and all we see is an out stretched neck and hear the hissing.. You would think it is a goose in there.

We blocked her and her babies in for a few days. No sense letting her run around and lose them.

Ralphie - there is a lot of truth to what you said! I live in that little narrow piece of MD where I can see PA and WV. Both borders are approx 2 miles from my location. At least I won't have far to run if the Po-lice come after me.

One of my grandsons left this week to spend the summer in Montana with his other grandparents. I fear he will never be the same once he returns.
