A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I think the Brahma was killed by the Turkey. Just not sure whats wrong with the turkey. Here's a pic. I'll try to get another better one when I get home.

It could be any one of many things, I think. Maybe the turkey and chicken just hated each other..

I did not see anything that stuck out in the picture other than the way he is holding his head. Even that could be just the picture.

I have had lots of turkey rooster fights, I do not know of anyone that has died in these fights.

They've been together for ever too and it was always fine but the turkey was standing on ramp today and attacking anything that walked up or close to it. It was weird. Maybe the rooster just died for some reason over night. The turkey keeps spinning in circles to if that means anything. I'll be home soon to get a better pic. Straw bedding but we did just put hay in the loft next to them so maybe that irritated it?

Stupidity and group "think" starts early in turkeys.

I have some still in brooders , it is time to move them out but my health issues and being set back have kept them in longer than they should be.

I decided to set their waterer up a little higher. I was looking for a block of wood the right size.. I did not find one. Instead found a wheelbarrow while about the right size. It ended up being the perfect size.

The young turkeys are going nuts at the "tire" being in the same pen as them under the waterer. They are a grouped up and pushing the far wall to get away from the evil tire.

Some are jumping at the cover wire, others just acting completely nuts.

Turkeys cannot accept change very well.

Soooo True. my last three babies are in the hospital, most of the time... That is to say that's there pen--but they are escape artists. its only three so they have no adult supervision (aka chickens) and we've found them under the freezer, stuck between the wall and something else, etc. If I can get these three to 8 weeks it will be a miracle. Although Ralph you'll love this.... I threatened them. Told them if they didn't behave I'd put the with the dux. behavior improved almost immediately.:yesss:

Lol, silly little buggers! The realy don't handle change well do they?

I now have another turkey hen. She's a Bourbon buff, one of my own from last year. I was asked if I could adopt her back since she was lonely (the other turkeys wandered off with the wild ones). Sabrina is now in quarentine and very skittish. I hope she'll learn that we're her friends. She is a pretty girl.

So far, I think my turkeys are pretty smart. Haven't done anything really stupid - YET!
