A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

For those running the link, Fertrell is where I get my vitamin packs and fish meal from. Their dealers generally supply or use those products for feed. I'm working with their garden department in an effort to swap over to their products for fertilizer and herbicides. I have places that I either need to burn or use an organic certified herbicide simply because I don't want round-up or any of its relatives near my birds.

They may be ugly - but some folks think turkeys and turkens are ugly, too!

Besides, someone has to eat all the dead animals in the fields and even on the roadways. I often see 1-3 working on a dead deer or other critter that has been mowed down by a vehicle.

I hate having to beat the vultures to the car kills, They should get the ones afternoon and leave the fresh ones in the morning for me!

There's a guy west of me that sells his feed for $1000/ton and a guy north of me for $900/ton. They both have a loyal following.

Edited to add: $25 and $22.5/bag

I have never looked into bulk, but I don't want the feed mill truck driving into my yard, so I just pick up bags.

I do buy enough feed in the year that they give me 4% off on the prices I mentioned. Not a lot but 40 cents a bag adds up.
I do the same. I provide the Fertrell products since we have the same source. I get it at the same price they do, so I'd rather burn my gas and labor to pick it up rather than pay their driver, plus gas, plus mark-up.

Was told to post here as everyone would have fun guessing the breed of this turkey. I'm 90-95% i know the breed as i own the parents,
That is really easy, the breed is Turkey. As far as the variety is it appears to be one of the Semi-Color Semi-Gray types of which there are no reference photos. Provide the parents and I will run it through Porter's Turkey Color Calculator to tell you what it should be if the parents are not carrying any hidden color genes.
