A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

ohhh. Feathers scattered around does sound like coyotes. Or Hawks. But very strange to have them take so many at once. Maybe a large pack? Or, maybe some got taken and in the frey, several more scattered and ran to hide. They could get lost forever, get eaten where they are hiding, or eventually find their way home. It really does seem like an odd scenario. Just sucks to lose all those birds. :(
i know we have coyotes and a lot of them but i havent heard them for a wicked long time and never seen them in this area during the day

and i have crows that i feed to help with the hawks, so far so good :fl
but anything is possible

i am not, though all of the birds and eggs i have received this last year+ have been from NPIP sources
i keep thinking about it but it sounds like quite a hassle

thank you for the offer :hugs i think come spring i will have a better idea of where to go

It is not a huge hassle. If you have clean pens and coops (relatively clean) and some breeding security to make sure the breeds stay true you are in.

The only hassle I have is record keeping, because I am not a record keeping type person, so I struggle to do that correctly. Also because I sell to so many different states I need to do AI testing which is quarterly and a pain, BUT that is only 30 birds of each species..

2nd or third, huh? Maybe that's why he was up hiding with the hens! A non-contender.

It could be a Mother with pups, They like to teach them to hunt, I doubt they have moved away from Mommy yet.

Crows and Ravens are my best friends. I would gladly give them a chick to munch on in exchange for keeping the hawks and eagles away.

i dont even think we need the breeds to be separated just the species

I just got certified as soon as I get the paperwork in the mail back. I have both cream Legbars and French Marans. My Marans are splash, blue silver/blue Birchen (same color but I'm tired of the infighting about what to call it) and Birchen. My Legbars veer more towards crele, and are AB lines, but I am getting more cream as I go along.

we will see come spring, thank you!

Ralphie, if you want crele birds, I can definitely bring you some skinny cockerels. That's what dad called the eating cream Legbars... Skinny chickens

I have a couple I will keep... I have a whole pen of skinny eating birds....
You can take some home with you to compare to your own skinny birds.
