A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Wow I’d imagine my dog cage would be big enough for just two,but will take your info and go major.Their nesting place will be a covered Small dog house. Its clear, nothing but a feeder and waterer, and old coop that stands high in the air,On top of that, they won’t be in this cage but maybe five minutes in the mornings, and I put them up about an hour or two before sun down, only in the summer and spring time,in winter they go up about four,4:30.

Just keep in mind they do need to be able to fly down without hitting a wall first. My coop is about 9x9 and 8ft tall with my roost around 4ft tall.

Just out of curiosity, can two toms live successfully together without hens?Or will they breed my other birds? Also,do you let Tom turkeys proceed to fight,or do you break it up?Just thinking of possibilities if I end with males. Also, how often is it toms attack humans?

Yes they can have chick grit but mine quickly move on to poultry grit or grit #1.

The more room they have the less likely they are to fight and males do mellow some with age.

They can be started outside in a secure area even if they have a draft free and heated spot to warm up. But fully feathered they can go outside typically. Some colder areas it may be slightly longer but mine went through 40 degree nights at 6-7 weeks of age without heat. I weaner them off heat starting around week 3 (like heat off for periods of time in the day then back on).
