A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Back in Memphis & what a nice surprise....we are getting a break in the humidity for a few days. Oh what a difference low humidity makes! I almost turned off Daisy's coop fan last night.
The outside humidity here yesterday got down to 17%. Of course the indoor humidity was much higher because of running the swamp cooler. It was all the way up to 40% in here yesterday.

17% humidity....can't even fathom that!

My girls are so different! Was watching them last night. Annie will find a good dust bath spot & stay in it for hours. Daisy takes a quick dust bath & prefers to wander around hunting for bugs. Then wants a nap in my lap. It's just entertaining to note their different preferences.

Have been observing our turkeys and they really aren’t as dumb as I thought. They literally hunt. They find the smallest bugs and I hope help with tick control. They definitely are different creatures then chickens.Taking time to catch a bug while a chicken goes right in for the kill.
Their also much quicker to warm up to you then a chicken is.
Here one of them is

Question regarding turkey hens... I read everywhere that they only lay 1-2 eggs a week. With my 4 hens I’m getting 20-25 eggs a week. I’ve had 3 days in a row of getting 4 eggs daily and I check nests twice a day and date them as I bring them in so I know I’m not making it up/second guessing myself. I assume this will taper off since they’re only 9 months old now, correct?

I had someone buy my hatching eggs a month ago and had 100% success hatching all of them. So guess my tom is doing his job well!

Mine lay eggs daily then take a day off here & there.
TwoRoos....sounds like your enjoying the babies! And your right, turkeys are so different than chickens! Daisy is my big hunter. Love watching her stalk a bug.
