A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Sorry about that Finnie....lost mine a few years ago too. Tough.
Thanks, Memphis

I’m thinking of making a semi movable turkey tractor out of some hog panels to give them the grass they so desire without allowing escape into the woods (also what they want).

The ducks on the other hand like staying put when given freedom.

Birds...
I've had to lock my turkeys up permanently now, due to them finally discovering how fun the back yard next door is. I also had to lock up about 14 chickens. There was one big group that decided to become juvenile delinquents, which resulted in a cockerel getting killed by their dog. So no more free ranging turkeys, and only non fence-jumping chickens can be loose now.

But the one nice thing about the ducks is, I don't have to worry about them flying over the fence, so they get to stay free.

I know how you feel with the wandering flock :/ I had to pick up my turkeys after the first year because they kept invading the neighbor's yard. Then this year, a group of chickens had to be penned up because they kept going over there. It's unfortunate that you lost one to their dog :/ I miss having all my turkeys running loose, trampling around on the roof and flying across the yard when I walked outside. Someday, I hope to have acres of land where I can just let them run.

Daisy can fly over the 6ft fence. Annie never flys. For the most part, they stay put. I've had to go track down Daisy a few times. It helps she comes when I call her. Or at the least she chirps back. They arent particularly motivated. We do take our walks most days and they stay close. Their favorite thing is helping me putt around the yard.

Yeah....I think my girls are set in their ways.

They are getting red-er & red-er....wondering when I'll see that first egg. They arent showing any of the usual signs yet.

Did you guys see the post where someone is looking for a batch of "wild" looking turkeys for a movie shoot? I posted Daisy's head shot & offered to send her resume in case they are looking for a lead turkey actress. No response. Guess she's just not the "wild" type they are looking for. Oh well....
But how fun would it be if some of our birds could be in a movie? Wonder if it's an actual movie about turkeys....or if they are just bit players.
