Normally there wasnt an odor. Just very slight odor when wet. Went on for months. Aussies are a double coated breed. Maybe that's why I could faintly smell it for so long. Blah!!
Getting cold this week....down in the 20's at night. May have a little snow on Friday. Yeeks!! Turkey girls are all fluffed out. They look so fat! But they sure like the cooler weather. They bounce around the yard & just love laying out in the sun. Took a walk this evening. They really enjoyed grazing! I've noticed that Daisy always eats breakfast. Each morning she fills up at her feed station. Annie...never see her eat any feed in the morning. Funny how they both have their little routines.

I got 3 eggs today confirming at least 3 hens are laying.... I only have 5 eggs set aside to hatch.

I believe that today is the set date for turkey eggs for the New Year's Day hatchalong, just . Case you felt like joining. I set 26 tonight!

My best girl stilts was hatched on new years.... and now I have a few of her eggs waiting to go in the bator..... so tempting. I was planning to set on a Saturday so hatch would be Saturday. I will follow the hatch-@-long anyway.

Since we have turkeys in the Hatchalong...I'll follow. In fact...I may start reading the posts to the girls...maybe guilt them into laying. Little slackers.

Ok never mind I just fired up the bator....we will call it a fertility test... yeah that sounds good. I did promise my dh I wouldn't hatch till next year so that totally works.

Aurora....did you get some of your birds separated into breeding pens? I'm still curious about the pencilling.

R2elk....you getting any eggs yet? Rjohns, Ralphie....any of your girls laying yet? Daisy seems to be getting redder...that or she stole my lip gloss again.

Mine will most likely be black.... I think as both Tom's in that pen are black, and a couple of the eggs are from a black hen. I am not sure of who else is laying it may be spudley the bbw cross hen or a royal palm but who knows.
