A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

View attachment 1632849 this is what my dh made me it was a display case..... the front has been replaced with plexiglas..... it's about 3x3 and maybe 18 inches tall

I have a reptile tank that I use sometimes that has does that open in the front. It's about half that size so I usually have the front doors open for ventilation and put a screen across so they don't jump out. Works great!

Mine is rectangle and made with hardware cloth. The corner piling is not really an issue when they are use to you.

Oh, okay. That’s easy. Things do tend to be a lot easier than I (over)think them. I had the idea that brooders needed solid walls to keep them toasty. I guess I can always drape a cover over it if necessary. Thanks!

Poor turkey hen. I don’t blame you not wanting to be pecked! It’s really nice here this week. 55 degrees down by the chicken run. This weather can stay.

The best brooders do not have an even temperature throughout. The chicks, keets, poults do best when having the opportunity to move in and out of heat as it suits them.

Mine are really simple, 2x4 frame 8'X8'X4' (4' was a mistake, but practical) and covered with corrugated plastic sheets, my nipple waterer and sweeter heater hang from a 1" PVC frame. I've since covered it with 1/2" welded wire due to its new location.

One idea for the brooder pad is Saran wrap or otherwise sealing the blanket so it can be wiped and it keeps the top clean. Depending on what sort of pad you are using.

I use a dog exercise pen. It folds into panels allowing me to arrange it in a big circle or rectangle. Its 42 inches tall. I do put a topper on it. And can add roosting bars. Its large enough I can walk around in it. I've used a heat lamp clipped onto the pen. I have two of them. I set up the other outside for use as I start orientating them to the other birds & being outside. I just sweep up the poopy bedding. It works for me. It's what I had. Seems to work ok for me.
