A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Ugh what a shitty afternoon! Had the windows open and hear turks and goats and cow goin NUTS. Out the door i ran bare footed. At first i thought that it was my escapee hen had gotten stuck in the gate... but nooooo my mothers dog had my hen and was takin her up the hill to her house. It was my escapee had gone to make business. I hollared at him amd he let her loose and she walked away. I nabbed her with no fight and this is NOT a touchy bird ever. Got her home and he had gotten her around her middle and hit her lung he went so deep. She had several more spots by that one. Called paul (he works eight minutes from home)... can you please come take care of my hen cause i know she is not gonna live. She he came and did it for me. Had he been on a delivery i would have because i would not have let her wait two hours til he got home. But he saved the day. I finished dealin with her... took breast and legs is all i could get that damn dog had not got. But i was furious. And while i am doin it up walks mama. So she now knows what happened.. i was not gonna tell her (she has lewy bodies dimentia) and was jus gonna watch the dog closely to see if he tried for my chickens. Well.. i was washin the meat at kitchen and she was lookin out the window and damn if he didnt go get one of my chickens! Out we go. I pick up that hen and i did have to do the deed cause i knew paul was on a delivery. Ugh! That is the one job i do not do ever. But again my hen was not gonna suffer cause i am a wuss. So i did it.

Mama says the dog has to go. THANK GOD! We have been tryin get her to get rid of this dog since a month after she got him. He has tried bite paul and i many times. I cannot step a foot onto her deck if he is out and cannot go in the house unless he is locked in her room. This is NO good! If anyone needed get to her the dog would have be shot first cause he would t let anyone neear her. And i have pleaded and told her this too many times to count. I just really pisses me off that it took her SEEING the dog run off with a chicken to say he needed go. What makes it ok for him to stay here with him tryin bite us still after six months of livin here... and he sees us daily! The first thing she asked me when she walked up today was.... did you see him do it.... oooooooo i bit my tongue on that bit. She told me have paul come get him when he got home. I told her no... neither paul or our son (he is grown) will do that. If she remembers nothing of ths whle thing it would ne that they shot her dog. Nope. Nope. Nope.

Geez louise is this day over yet?!?! And. Tomorrow i have take her to the dentist an hour away so i am sure to hear about it all the way up and back.

Sorry for my soapbox rant!
I'm so sorry about your hens and your terrible day. :hugs

Had a clump of crocus and a bunch of snowdrops bloom, but the tulips and daffodils have yet to make much of a showing. Heck, no grape hyacinth yet, and there are several other known patches of crocus yet to flower. It's only been thawed a week maaaybe.
And a bit of snow tomorrow, but hopefully not too much. I don't want any more. It actually rained most of today and yesterday. But not heavy, just the easy, Misty, perhaps a half inch at the very most kind of rain we get on the prairie.

Oooo! When you decide to divide those snowdrops i would love a few! I will send dollars if you would share.

My dad died from Lewy Bodies. It was awful. Gentlest man I’ve ever known, but he came at me with an axe toward the end. Who knows what he thought I was? I took it away—not difficult, but still... After that he went to the hospital, then a nursing home. He died a couple weeks later. I know it’s hard, but try not to explode at her. You’ll feel better later if you don’t... trust me on that one. My mom is dying from Alzheimer’s. I don’t know which is less bad; they’re both horrible. She can be really hateful, too. (Not unusual with Alzheimer’s) It’s so hard to deal with it when someone you love treats you like dirt, even though you know it’s just their brain malfunctioning.

As to the dog, I would deal with it when she can’t see. Maybe your husband can take care of it when you take her to the dentist. Tell her whatever you like... the dog catcher came and impounded it and had it put down. whatever. It doesn’t matter so long as she’s not mad at you guys (not that you can stop her from that if she decides to be.) A dog like that is dangerous enough if the owner knows to keep it in, let alone in your situation. You really do HAVE to deal with the dog. Someone will get hurt, possibly badly hurt.

I’m so sorry you have this to deal with. Definitely not fun.

It is snowing here. The ground is covered. I went out to dump the wood chips from the meaties’ water dispenser and it was like being slushed on rather than rained on. Was supposed to rain all day, but it just winded at us instead. Now it’s slushing. I know I said snowing but really, it’s slushing.

They were planted years ago by mom, and are really very sparse and in the yard as a few naturalized bulbs along with grape hyacinth. Teeny blue flowers poking up in the yard, like five of them. They make me squee for spring!

Daffodils are done here. Trees & azaleas all in bloom. Green haze of pollen covering everything. Trees leafed out. Everything seems to be bursting with blooms. Beautiful time of year here. Hens love it as weeds are going crazy. It's a buffet. Two fatties are making the most of it. Gosh they are chunky. I think its middle age spread!

Trees are budded here but no leaves out yet though there are a couple random little leaves on my lilac bush! The only flowers that are bloomed are the two hyacinths and 1 daffodil that I just planted (for the dogs). My own daffodils are up just not bloomed yet. Same with the tulips. They're coming up but not out yet. The irises are just little green things poking out of the ground still. No sign of the random grape hyacinths and crocuses around the yard. There's only like 3 of them that someone planted years ago.

Was just standing outside listening to Great Horned Owls hooting back and forth. They are sure chatty this morning.
Aurora...the plants you planted will be fine. Thought you planted bedding plants. Actually the cooler weather will help the daffodil blooms last longer.

As crummy as it was... i DID learn somethin! That my tom would die before he let anthing happen to his ladies inside their space. :). He was all over the fence tryin get out to her. That my goats even though they don’t care if the turks are here or there do pay attention and i actually think they would also try to defend my birds... my gracie and cozmo were rammin the fence over and over as i ran up the hill screamin my fool head off. All of them were hollarin like crazy pants. And the three month old cow that also shares that space... she was hollarin and runnin up and down the fence as well. Not one creature up the hill was runnin away from the fight. The goat kids did but none of the adults did.

And i also learned that if i absolutely HAVE to dispatch an animal i CAN do it. And do it swiftly. So it was not a total loss i think. ;).

So sorry you're going through this.:hugs:hugs
