A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I can drive & drive & drive! Give me a big bag if Lifesavers & I'm like the Energizer Bunny behind the wheel. Must be my special talent. Driving all night on a Friday to get to a Saturday stock trial is one thing....its driving all Sunday night & having to work on Monday that's a bummer. I can't do that anymore!

Wow you are a wonder! I love to quilt..... the standing joke at my house is in my spare time.... example in my spare time I will sew, or catch up on my organization... my hubby thinks it's great. He is always pulling my leg about it when I bring up a project I want to work on.
I will get some of it done just this eve i managed to weed half a row in the garden... ok so the other 9 1/2 still need attention but still it was something.

Alicia....sometimes it's the small victories (weeding half a row) that mean the most!

Aurora that machine is impressive! I like the red on blue. White could work, but also try a dark color like navy or black. Love the 9 patch quilt blocks! Great use for scraps! I'm a huge quilt fan! Really like that idea!

I love sewing! It's become my hobby as well as my "job". I figured there was no better way to use up the leftover fabric pieces than to make a quilt out of them. This will be my first quilt on my own. The very first one I worked on was with my mom. We started it two years ago and finished it in a couple months, just in time for my dad to get it for Christmas that year. She had a bunch of his old biking/motorcycle/adventure t-shirts hidden away. He had told her to just throw them out. He had no idea we were doing it. We successfully snuck around on secret days she took off and days he was away with both our machines running and both of us trying to figure out what we were doing. It turned out really nice! I can't find the picture of the two pillows (we had 2 extra shirts). Dad didn't believe is at first that we did it ourselves. He's not an emotional guy at all but I swear there may have been a tear in his eye :)

Rain is done! Now the heat is going to be over the top this next week. Gosh...just think of the mosquitoes incubating down here!!
Ugh! I hadn't thought about the mosquitoes. I'll have to walk around and check for standing water and make sure I dump any I find. I do dump my waterers ( kiddie pools) every 2 or 3 days (whenever I see the first wiggler in the water).

That's a great story Aurora! Great way to use tee shirts that have memories but dont get worn much. Love it!

Karenerwin... I am armed with one mosquito eating machine! I think she'll be busy! Always amazes me the beak to eye coordination turkeys have. She can pick off a mosquito and I barely feel it.

If everyone had a mosquito eating lapper just think of the dent we could make in the mosquito population! I can just see everyone with their lappers at outdoor events or camping trips!!

I guess I am fortunate to live on top of a shale mountain. That means most of the water just sinks into the ground and I seldom have "standing water" for more than a few minutes. That's not to say I don't have a few places where the dirt is more clay than rock - Those can be horrendous.

Yesterday evening, after I had put everyone away, I sat in my chair under the umbrella (after I snatched it back from Brandie turkey) and watched my three ducks scarf down flies - most of them out of mid-air. I have yet to see a tick this year anywhere and only heard about one that a grandchild said she took off the dog. Any spots I dig up for flowers or garden plants are immediately descended upon - and things like Japanese beetles, snails, slug, etc are history. Even the turkeys love Japanese beetles.
