If you breed the Red Palm to Red Bronze hens, there are lots of possibilities including Red Palms and Red Sweetgrass. If you had a Calico hen, that mating would produce half Calicos and half Red Palms. There are more red bronze left, his siblings, he and the current set of red bronze poults result from red bronzes crossing, and they were from bourbon red over Royal Palm. For sure there are two sweetgrass Jennie's, one trip colored mottled black jenny, one bourbon red hen, one Royal Palm hen, and one red bronze hen. There is for sure several calico Jake's, one trip colored mottled blue Jake, one sweetgrass Jake, and some red bronze Jake's, as well as a possible Palm type Jake that is either Royal or maybe that Cornish Palm? Not sure. The only Jake's we are keeping right now are the blue, the sweetgrass, and I like the red Palm. He's just really neat. There's a good chance there are a few more Jennie's among them, but mine seem to be late blossomers.
Ralphie, that is a MUCH greater idea! Believe me, I can't imagine a BYC world without you and your turkeys.I am going to try and keep a few turkeys... just have a neighbor look in on them once in a while if I am gone...which I don’t plan to be..
They could live in the rafters for years and be safe.
Esther looked up the fall fire and stated, " we don't have those. We should hatch some of those!" In response to your comment on possible breeding outcomes. I'm not sure if I am sold yet, I think I want to expand numbers of each variety first before making new ones.If you breed the Red Palm to Red Bronze hens, there are lots of possibilities including Red Palms and Red Sweetgrass. If you had a Calico hen, that mating would produce half Calicos and half Red Palms.
If you breed him to a Sweetgrass hen, the results are sex linked with all hens being Calicos and all toms being Fall Fire.
It is normal for the iridescence to shine in the sun and not so much in the shade. Is this normal for a black turkey to look not-black in the sunshine? Or does that mean they aren't actually black and are something else?

Ok, but you would consider the hens in the picture to be black? It is normal for the iridescence to shine in the sun and not so much in the shade.
