A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

No....I didn't mean two guineas add up to observing flock behaviour....I was just saying that's my only experience with them and it did me in. I had with the crazy little creatures after that. My only interest in them is too eat one.
So his point is he didn't observe and fighting. I agree with your comments.

Flashpoint....I think I saw that on the news. The police took the chicken into custody too.

Our rain is here....but we are still holding at 60. Apparently the rain will move out before the temps drop. Whew!
Yes, Chicken Teresa might get out of jail when he does. (smh)

60 here currently, but calling for a high of 40 tomorrow with "snow showers" and a low of 20. I hate winter ( a refrain I will say several times before Spring as a mantra). Then it goes downhill from there weather-wise for several days.

I did get greenhouse plastic on 90% of the dog/rooster kennel, layered and even with glass windows on one side to help block the wind at ground level. It is not pretty, but hopefully "functional". Put a tarp on top held down by wooden planks, zip ties, and tarp straps. I'm not covering the little temp pen that's connected to the kennel - figure it's on them if they want to go out there - at least for now.

Depending on the weather and myself, I will try to get the hardware cloth over the top of the 12 x 4 piece of cardboard in the turkey room and get that room divided in half. Haven't decided if better to leave both toms together or split them tom/hen with a 4 x 8 plywood wall between the sections.

That will leave all the hens and the 4 Midget Whites with about 12 sq feet each - counting the covered run for the winter. I still have the old chicken coop and pen and the 19 ft camper if I can get to them before bad weather really hits and if I think I really need them for now. Trying to avoid all the extra snowdrift walking......

Decisions Decisions!

They should be okay for all of them to be together until about February which is when the toms will need to be split up.

Thanks, R2! I can do that easily enough. By then I will also have enough hay gone to split my "feed room" to have more space if necessary.

A lot of it depends on how cold it gets for me to go in and remodel the camper for the toms. There is plenty of room in there, but this summer and non-fall haven't given me much time to do what needed to be done. Plus, just getting too old to be out there trying to shovel snow. Six inches isn't so bad if I only need to make a path, but if there's more than that, there's a problem lol. I often don't see anyone for weeks at a time, so I try to be careful what I do out there by myself.
:old:old:old
At least I have my hanging feeders in place and working on a couple heated buckets and I have the 6-quart heated bowls. Now that my well is back in operation, I have already refilled about 100 gal jugs of water. I have them stashed in various places so I can add to the 16 gal heated tubs as needed. I am always worried about the water situation, so I over-compensate - a LOT! :fl
