A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Some of us have other needs to attend to. My well pump froze up. I managed to replace it today. None of the turkeys came to inspect my work or to steal my tools. It made the job go quicker than if they were Ralphie's tool stealing, get in the way tribe.

I am afraid to tell you what they did now...

It’s down right spooky and makes no sense.

Some how one of them got ahold of a goose decoy.

They put it in the middle of a pen I am not using...

When I first saw it it weirded me out. I thought a goose had gotten into the building. I had them up in the rafters on a small shelf. How they got one down without bringing the whole pile is beyond me.

I left the goose there so I could take a picture of it for you all. If I ever remember my phone when I go out there.

oh, it’s a full body decoy not a half decoy.

I had a gander that stuck his head through the garden fence and then back out through the next hole. He apparently was too stupid to work his head back out. Meanwhile the BBB tom took full advantage of the situation.

Oh no!!

I almost feel sorry for the goose.

Ralphie your birds are so creative! And R2elk, as you know mine love to garden with me. It's great company. They are mostly interested in the weeds I'm pulling. Admittedly I'm not gardening veggies, I can't allow chickens in my gardens....but the turkeys are fine. A lot of time when working the girls sprawl out in the sun near me & gossip away. They don't steal tools. They will spend time investigating them. Mine aren't a distraction, they just hang out. You ought to pick out a few hens & let them trail around with you for a few days!! You might be surprised!

I know just what over friendly turkeys are like. The first turkeys that I had were rehomed because the owners couldn't handle them after imprinting them. One hen would sneak up behind me and bite. I accidentally cured her of biting when she nailed me in the back of the knee with a twisting bite. Before I realized what I was doing, I had grabbed her by the neck and started to swing her in circles. I realized what I was doing just in time that I was able to release her before I broke her neck and she went sailing through the air. It only took the one episode to teach her to not get within arm's reach of me.

If that wasn't enough, when I would be down in a ditch working on a waterline, they would all come over and kick dirt and pebbles in on top of me.

I much prefer my current turkeys that will not come near me.
