As if on cue, something sinister appeared in North's light, but it wasn't really her. It was the curse, and it was very creepy, intended to scare the finch away.

) stood her ground and started singing a shrill song.

The sinister, flickering flames blew out, heading straight for Robin, trying to attack her. NorthLight's eyes were all but hidden. Robin's feathers singed and crackled.

Robin's song got louder and wilder. She ignored what was happening with her feathers and flew in quick circles around NorthLight, still singing.

The flames almost swallowed her up entirely, hissing angrily and infiltrating her lungs, her eyes, her nose holes.
NorthLight could smell flesh burning, and she didn't like it one bit. But she was powerless to stop what was happening, it always happened. She just hoped this one would be different.
