A Chicken Craze Crazy

Hello:frow
Welcome to BYC!!
So glad to have you here!!
Thanks for sharing your story!!
Loved your intro!!!
You have come to the right place.
There are many people on here that are ready to help in anyway they can!
The learning center also has alot of great information on it as well!
Enjoy!:wee
Thank you @Hope Hughes. I have been a regular peeper on BYC for some while, but I finally got the nerve up to join. So glad I did. I feel like I’m with “my people” now! :bow

G’Day from down under Mimi’s 13 :frow Welcome!

Why do I feel the need to break out with a rendition of The Twelve Days of Christmas?

...... 8 Goats a' leaping :p

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Thank you so very much for getting that song stuck in my head. :barnie But, on the other hand, that is a great idea that I must begin working on, stat. So far, I absolutely love everything I have seen and/or read here on BYC and I can't wait to find and learn much more.
I am quite certain that I will be sharing more pictures and stories, simply because I have many of both.
P.S. I'm gonna get to work on my very own version of The Twelve Days of...Country Style! :lau

Tee hee .. you are most welcome! :p

I have had a song worm for days now due to my FIL insisting on continually pulling down dead palm fronds and piling them up on the lawn. I then have to stand in the hot sun with the clippers breaking them down to garden bag rubbish size. Anyways, to cut a boring story short .. I did this the other day singing 'My Obsession with Fronds' in my head :lau

[My Obsession With You - Ice House. Thought I had better put that in because Ice House is an Australian band you may have no idea about what I am babbling :p]

Please do share the song when you have it ready :pop

:welcome:celebrate

Glad you're here !

A must have for your poultry is a FIRST AID KIT for any issues that would arise. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/suggestions-for-a-first-aid-kit.1150128/ )
It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Also, make sure your coop(s) have a proper amount of VENTILATION. ( https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...-there-and-cut-more-holes-in-your-coop.47774/ ) Your chickens will absolutely thank you for it!

One last thing, please get your chickens some Vaseline or bag balm to stave off frostbite before they get it! Baby, it's cold outside! :D

Welcome! You have a very cool menagerie! Yes, build a coop much larger than you need. I've already decided on coop 2, thinking about coop 3 for the Sebastopols I plan to get, and coop 1 isn't even totally finished, yet. (Still working on the "sitting area where I have cute chicken curtains in the windows, a mural I can get back to painting once we get above freezing, and a cushion for the window seat where I can have several sweeties sit on my lap for pets). LOL

You are very funny. I actually looked that band up. They are very good. Since I keep my 18 month old grandson, I am constantly singing the cartoon songs, mostly in my head, but sometimes they slip out so everyone can hear them. I share like that. :lau

Thank you for this list of must haves/must dos. I am a reader of all things chickens, and I’ve got a list of everything I need. My problem is I think I have to have everything at once! Everything...Perfect coop, Perfect landscaping, every chicken breed, every chicken gadget, on and on and on. I’m about to kill my husband. Every day it’s something new he says. Oh well, it’s a sickness I tell him. All the books warn of salmonella, but what they don’t warn you of is “chickenitis.” It’s real, but thank goodness it’s not deadly.
