A chicken home decorator? lol cute story!

It's a hot one today where I live, so most of my chickens were lazing about inside of the coop instead of free ranging. Apparently, Snickers (a BR hen) decided this was the PERFECT time to spruce things up a bit. She headed off to one corner, picked up a wood chip, and ran to the nesting boxes where it was then deposited. Off to the middle of the coop floor she goes to find the perfect woodchip to sit next to the water dish. And then, "Oooh! This one would look fabulous beside the door!" This went on and on and I just couldn't stop laughing at her behavior! I wish I could have recorded it!

Well when it is too hot to be outside doing chicken stuff, a gal has got to do something with her time.

I wonder whether hens have nesting behaviors before they go broody (in the same way human moms often clean like crazy,etc. right before they deliver!)? Could she be getting the place ready for "company"? Just a thought.
