A Chicken Love Story....Gypsy and Zane

I have a muscovey duck and a semi crippled sex link hen that are inseperable too. The duck sits outside her cage all day, follows her if I let her out to be in the yard with us. It si so cute, they have bonds.

So sweet

LOL, I often do! I always tell him that he's my sweet baby rooster and he looks into my eyes with that soft expression he has. I could almost swear he winks at me. He's such a doll. He looked so happy when Gypsy was in her makeshift nest beside him. He was laying as close to her as he could get. Zane just turned a year old recently. Hard to believe he's been fighting this injury since he was about 19-20 weeks old.

Wow, Zane is one handsome dude and Gypsy is a little doll! They seem so content and happy together. Reminds me of the Tricia Yearwood song "She's in Love with the Boy."

It is so beautiful. Gypsy choosing to nest beside him, he no doubt feeling important and chosen because of her trust in him. It's just lovely beyond words.

That is a very sweet story. Reminds me of how things are in my main coop, each little group that was hatched still stays in their own groups, and they all roost together. Funny how they keep their "friendships" even when grown.

I love that song, though I'm not a real country music fan. The reason is that the love of my life is named Tommy, too. We met, were engaged in three weeks, married in two months, and now have been married 33 years. I can SO relate to that song!

Those two are best buds and I love that Zane has a girlfriend. I do put her in with him sometimes, but she scarfs down his food while he looks on adoringly. When we have some warmer dry days, I'll put him and Gypsy in the covered pen together so he can feel like he's a real protector for his lady-love.
