A chooks life... with added sunbaking chooks

Looks like you have some happy chooks there! I know I would be happy to be basking in the sun at this time of the year north of the equator. Love the Lorikeet pics. They are beautiful but quite noisy, as you said.

I love Australia. My family was there two years ago and visted Sydney, Brisbane and the Glasshouse Mountains and Cairns before heading to Christchurch NZ. Love it over there. We had friends who were from Toowoomba who had moved to NZ so we went to visit them. Now they are back in Toowoomba. One day we hope to go back over and visit again. I might take the kids and go spend a month. Luv Oz!

I'm from NZ originally - I still miss the Kiwi summers, but the winters here are much kinder. Toowoomba is a beautiful place, it's terrible they have been suffering from drought for some time, and being high on the range they get alot colder than we do near the coast!

I've posted a thread here with pics of the new additions - they haven't stopped eating!

It's a nosloc from New Zealand. I have the 5mm one because I feed pellets and it works well, but they have a 3mm one too - and ones with a protective sheath so that wild birds can't access it if you don't have it in a shed. I bought the nozzle & hanger only and bought the bucket from a hardware store.

Hi Jnine

I'm from Australia too - inner western suburbs of Melbourne. I love your birds - the chooks and the visitors. In the last week, we have had flocks of galahs and sulphur-crested cockatoos flying past and roosting in the big gum tree on our nature strip. We often get rainbow lorikeets too - they love eating our apples direct from the trees! I love your barred rock - I'm thinking about getting a couple of those, or maybe some orpingtons next - currently have 5 barnevelders and 2 gold pencilled hamburgs. You can see them here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=283237&p=2

Cheers
!

you don't miss much.... southerly blowing all over the country today with rain and hail in few parts.... heavy rain warning in usual places....

CluckySam, it's funny because I wanted some Barnevelders but got the barred rock instead (we bought them from a girl who lives locally who hatches some in her yard). Yours are gorgeous.

I guess my memory is somewhat selective about the NZ weather - I'm from Hawkes Bay, so maybe it's all the wine I drank? I do remember going to school wearing a kilt and long socks as a uniform and absolutely freezing, and the year our pool froze over!
