I'm going let her have some babes,in the spring for sure...omg I'll be a grandma. :)

That will be sooooo much fun. I don't have a rooster, so no babies at our place. I didn't even get my girls as day olds because I didn't want to brood in the house, but I would totally let a hen brood outside in the coop. Can't wait to see pics of the next generation!

Lulu was hatched with her future baby daddy so I'm going to have a whole generational thing going on. I don't blame you for not wanting to brood indoors it's awfully messy and dusty.

Go Pink! That's awesome. Is she the one you thought would lay first? Hopefully she is leading by example and your other 9 will be quick to follow!
Yes she is the one I thought would be first, and you also picked her a few pages back. She has now provided me with 3 eggs, the others are starting to sing the egg song and doing practice runs back to the coop and nesting boxes.

You guys...... My 2 dumb birds are 35 weeks and still no eggs :idunno

Share some pics! Any egg laying behavior, squatting, singing, hanging out in the next box?? What kind of chickens? Do you give them extra light or are you just letting nature take its course?

A few of my duds are at like 40 weeks now! So old it's easier to keep track in months! The lazy bums!

I'm letting nature take it's course. One is an EE and the other a Speckled Sussex. No squatting, no interest in the nest boxes, no extra chatter. My other 3, an EE, PBR and BCM started in September. They've slowed way down the last few weeks. Hoping it all picks up soon.
