we are still trying to figure out the best door option. I think The door should be on the left and their pop door on the right. My husband thinks it should only be a 1/3 of the back in size but I am leaning more towards half the back being the door?? any input is needed. The run will come off the back so I'll have to enter the run to access the door but I think that will be good no one will be able to escape on me when cleaning it out. I think it should open from right to left?? their food will hang to the right by their pop door?? It is all going to be tight considering it is only a 4x5 coop well maybe less now on the interior.

I think your ideas will work. To visualize it I did a quick sketch. If the "walk in" door is on the left you would want it to open towards the left. Then you can make something to hold it open while you are working (a catch on the run). The pop door could even be built into the main door if you wanted to. That would give you more space inside since the door areas need to be open for you and the chickens. does that make sense?

I really like that!! That way the water and food isn't in the way of their door. I also want to put roosts infront of both windows would that be ok?

Gotta love photo shop and paint!!!

Exactly what I was thinking but I would move it over to the left side.

Then with only one door you can build it wide enough to be useful. I like 3' personally, ya just never know what you need to get in or out of there.

Oh ya, the roosts. I think the chickens would like a view.

They are sliding windows correct?

I like to put wire over my window openings but I am not sure how you are going to be able to do that if you need access to the window to open it
hmm.png

If you put wire on the outside they might try sitting ON the window jamb and that is going to make a mess.
Maybe if you leave the window unlocked you can add a handle to the outside of the window to slide it open??

I like that idea of the door and ladder all built in one. I think I just have to measure to see if that would work but it helps a lot to have a visual. I think having both doorsin one will save a lot more room inside the coop.
