A couple of things I think might be worth sharing...Got Pics!

I took some pictures, but I'm having trouble uploading them to Photobucket. Is anyone else having trouble or is it my slow satellite conntection?

I got real goofy with the leg bands over the weekend. The Velcro stuff only came in 4 colors and I have 10 barred rocks, so I got out my acrilyc paints (non toxic, of course) and my list looks something like this now....

BARRED ROCKS:
Pink w/blue flowers=Lucille (my favorite)
Orange=Lippy (she bites lips!)
Purple w/yellow flowers= TBD (not named yet)
Yellow w/red hearts=Beatrice
etc...etc...

RHODE ISLAND REDS:
Yellow w/pink flowers=Ruby
Red=Rosey
Green w/pink flowers=Hot Wing (but my daughter is going to make her a new one with flames instead)
etc...etc...

Once everyone has name and a custom legband, I will post the list in a plastic cover at the coop so I can start remembering who's who.

I'll get pics up as soon as I can get them to upload.

My neighbor is calling me "Crazy Chicken Lady" now. I take it as a complement!

Zip Ties are VERY handy!

I have some with a loop on the "lock-end" that we use on "the boys" as collars. We attach a leash- ~10 ft of parachute cord. They are staked out close enough to share waterers. They can wander around- do rooster things but not kill each other- or compromise the pullets' virtue

Our pens are constructed with zip ties- I use them to train vines up trellises - yep- almost as handy as duct tape and hog rings...

I may be stupid but what are leg bands for?

I think it's to tell them apart. I had three RIRs last year and could NEVER tell them apart. They looked and acted almost indentical. I finally resorted to blue, green, and white bread ties.

Oh , I should try that then I have 6 RIR, 5 Barred Rocks and 6 Leghorns that don't have names yet because they all look alike to me.

Just wanted to share the names I do have (for fun):
Lt. Colonel Bok Bok: Dominique Roo
Tiny: Blind Barred Rock
Big Bertha: EE
Turkey: EE
Sweet Cheeks: EE
Purdy: EE
Hottie: EE

The EE's only have names because they all look completely different.
