A curled toe like I have not seen before.

Yes, good luck, let us know how it turns out. I think the most disturbing part of the video is the huge scissors with the tiny chick! I was thinking if I ever had to do it I would use smaller scissors or a small blade, but having never done it, can't be sure that's best. The larger scissors did make it quick, but I'd be worried about getting a toe. Anyway, hope it turns out well for the chick and you!

I would just like to point out that if u r using these chickens for show and breeding...you may not want to keep this one as it may carry this trait on to future chicks u may get from it...if not...then just ignore my comment...lol

Emmyn you're right, I do a bit of breeding and so this one will find a great home.
Well folks after DH and I watched the video we slept on it and did the deed this morning.
We were going to use a box cutter with a new clean and wiped down blade but I had a thought bubble and remember I had a brand new pair of tiny scissors that came in with a nail kit on ebay, it's a great kit full of goodies all stainless steel. The box cutter would have really been tricky since there is a fair amount of chick movement and the area was so so tiny. I tried the scissors out on the napkin to test it and it was in fact really sharp. So I had some Band-aid wash with Lidocaine, it was all that I had and probably not strong as it should be. So we prepped everything and with all things, I think having 4 hands is better. One side was rather simple just a quick snip. The other is so tight together and the long toe is so rounded that we only snipped a little and then DH had to get going to work, so, unfortunately, we have to go back in for that one. Sorry little dude. There was really not that much blood but I separated it out, I have to go check on it now, I have to stabilize the legs also because there was so much wrong with the outter edges of the feet the feet slipped and now we have splayed leg to deal with but that's easy... will keep you posted.
