Three books you really need to read. Fight! and Mine! by Jean Donaldson and Feisty Fido by Patricia McConnell. Fight is dealing with dog aggression and Mine is for resource guarding and Feisty Fido is for leash reactivity. All available on amazon. Both women are very well regarded in the field of behavior.

Thanks! I'll see if I can find it at my library. Btw she is no longer being food aggressive. I can pet her the whole time and even put my hands in the bowl. Shes still not wagging her tail about it but she is allowing it so its a step

I like a couple of older books: 'People, Pooches, and Problems' by Job Michael Evans, and anything written by Carol Benjamin, as in 'Mother Knows Best'.

She has to sit and bark 3 times to get her 3 scoops of food (a cup and a half) in the morning and at night. She then has to go to her room to eat. If I didnt have her go to her room she will chase the cat if she gets anywhere near her bowl. This includes water which is kept in her room as well. The room is a safe place to eat and sleep. I'll check out those books as well

They have the "people pooches..." Book but not mother knows best. They have a lot of other books by her that look good though.

Frankly, not a huge fan of Job Michael Evens. I read their Monks of New skete book, and it's full of stuff like alpha dog rolls and other physical punishment. That stuff was very big in the eighties, but we know better now. Especially wouldn't do that with a dog already defensive biting. Carol Benjamin has some good stuff, but honestly, I haven't read her books lately so I don't remember that well. See if they have "When Pigs Fly" by Jane Killian. Not a behavior problems book, but a super good clicker training book, and excellent explanations how to motivate dogs and train without even having to touch them, let alone use any force or discomfort. Off to work, I'll check in later.

What I really like about the JB Evans book that I mentioned is the section on reforming a relationship with a dog who wants to run things. It's excellent, IMO.
Training techniques come and go, or evolve, over time. Sometimes due to better understanding, and sometimes one plan works better for a particular dog, and another technique works better for another. it shouldn't be 'cookie cutter', or necessarily all about cookies!

On another note, I feel that having her bark at you for food isn't the best idea, IMO. I think it's 'demanding', not something she should be doing towards you.
Something else to ask a behaviorist about!
