a dented egg

An egg slipped out my hand, fell about half an inch onto my torch and has not dented the tip of the egg! Really annoyed as i've been so careful! The egg looks like its doing well (on day 8) and there are only about 4 out of the 12 that this can be said for!

So, what do i do with it? I assume the answer is to bin it?!

I have seen several people on here who have hatched dented or slightly cracked eggs using the following methods of sealing:

Candle wax
Liquid Band-aid
clear tape
Neosporin
piece of a bandaid
Elmer's glue

There may be others, but I have not seen or can't remember off the top of my head.

Darn! I wish I'd know you could patch a dented egg last week! I accidentally dented one of the six my broody was sitting on, on day two, and I pitched it, thinking bacteria would enter immediately. I could have saved it !

I did take the opportunity to examine it for fertility, and now have the peace of mind knowing the rooster did his job. I had my doubts since he kept falling off the hen onto his head.

As for patching the egg...sometimes it works & sometimes it doesn't.

our first batch we cracked 2 of the 13 we were incubating. ironically the 2 that were cracked and only 1 other hatched and survived. so it can be done. we used scotch tape to patch them and removed it on day 17. be careful not to take shell with the tape though.
