a dogs fear of steps...what to do??

Have a vet check for some sort of eye anomolie; his vision may be throwing him off. There are vets that specialize in eye issues...

I suggest this because my dog, a rough coat collie has this problem. It used to be a problem getting her in and out of the car, but not any longer.

Start some good treat time....."time for biscuits".....every time he comes back inside its biscuit time. You're going to have to start up a routine.....every time they come inside they get to sit and all get biscuits. Or at least put some sort of verbal command to YAY YUMMY TREAT TIME. Get them nice and used to it....You have to make the reward for coming inside better than staying outside.

Yeah I wish treats would work. He isn't very food motivated, not even for meat, hotdogs, or anything else lots of dogs find yummy. I will look into getting his eyes checked, that is a thought doesn't seem to have sight problems, but dogs are good at hiding conditions.
