We had a mockingbird once that learned to imitate the squeal of my daughter when she was 2 years old. It would make that sound as it chased our bird-eating tomcat through the yard. Scared the daylights out of me the first time I heard it, because I knew K was inside taking a nap....
Scared the daylights out of the cat because usually that sound meant he was about to get baby love!!

Mockingbirds are so amazing!

A lady I know had a similar expereince with a mockingbird. It could make the sound of Fran's mother, who had alzheimers, calling for her little sister Gracie. Gracie had died several years before, so it chilled Fran to the bone to hear that bird calling "Gracie! Gracie!" in her mother's voice. Fran said the bird had a nest outside her mother's bedroom window.
