A Good Old Fashion Rain Coat (Found One!)

I would think police departments, utility company linemen, city maintiance
workers.

Look around, see who in your area is wearing company issued raingear.

Mine is from the electric company. Even the boots.

Thanks, that's kind of the search angle I'm using now. I was searching construction/work gear, now I'm trying more farm supply searches. My local farm supply places don't have them unfortunately, I checked.

Also check marine wear. I can't access this site from work, but try www.go2marine.com

Try "firestoreonline" ?

Basic yellow industrial raincoat, plain no printing. Mil thickness
not given but these guys don't wear junk.

Looks like some good ones here, more durable! I'll check out this site some more and also do more marine searches, good tip!

I haven't read every single post in this thread but have you looked at thrift or vintage stores? Also Marshall's, Ross, etc?

I'm a big fan of the old-fashioned yellow or green slickers so I get what you're looking for. Also - if you're lucky enough to be petite, you could find an inexpensive one in a children's department because they do still make cute old-fashioned raincoats for kids.

That particular one I can guarantee is the cheap thin material based on the 12 dollar price tag. All the ones around .35mil thick are that price. BUT it looks like they do have some other styles too, better ones, so I'm checking that out now, thank you!

Check in the mall i saw a pretty one.

Okay, I found one! I ordered it from Gempler's. They have all kinds of good stuff. I called customer service and spent a long time on the phone with a lady who was patient with all my questions. This one is CANVAS, coated to be waterproof, as opposed to most I've seen that are just thin PVC plastic. So I think the canvas will be very durable. It also has a full breathable liner. This has night glow stripes, which I don't really care for, but whatever. It's durable, it has a hood, a good liner, everything I want. It looks like it wouldn't be that long, but it's a men's and is 46" from the collar to the hem, so that will actually be quite long on me. It was also on clearance! BONUS. I think it's going to be very good quality; I think the heavy canvas material is going to make it durable. Here it is if anyone is interested. She said I can return it if I don't like it. It's ugly I realize, but I just need a durable beater for yard chores. If it's pretty I won't want to wear it. And since it's canvas, I'm thinking it might also be good for bringing in fire wood in the winter on snowy days, maybe.

Thanks to everyone for all the help and suggestions!
