A hard lesson learned about chickens and pit bull not mixing well

If you have a dog that kills chickens ,take chicken tie around dogs neck & leave there til it falls off. Dog wont kill chickens anymore just nasty thing to do. Grandpa did it to 2 dogs. I have had pit bulls all my life & NEVER had a mean one unless you did not belong in my yard. I have free range Chickens & 2 rabbits .The only thing my dog hunts is lizards.

A co-worker was telling us a story about her pet dog, and her son's pet rooster who rode a bike with him. The dog went after the Roo, chewed his tail off and his crow box out" Said he never crowed again! Is there a "crow box"???

Wish my dog could do that to some of my loud Roos, just the crow box part.

ETA: The Roo was fine, after his tail feathers grew back in!

I don't know about a "crow box" but they probably have something like vocal chords. Maybe?

I guess the my cousin's rooster was tired of having to run for his life. Since he made his way back to my cousin's house the old boy has not returned for another run in with the dog.

I took the dog because I have a nice sized dog pen. The dog is quite content now and is unable to get out to chase any chickens. Problem solved. Woo hoo!

The dead chicken tied to the neck of the killing dog does not always work. FIL did that. Took the chicken off after a time. The dog immediately went out and killed another chicken.
