Starting Lock-Down tonight, can't wait!

I'm going to put them into lock down tomorrow night because I have a staggered hatch. I'm delaying the lock down for the ones not quite ready for lockdown since they'll also go into lockdown at the same time. I candled the 16e BLRW Friday evening. Still can't see much detail thru the dark shells, but there was a couple of eggs that I think are either infertile or early quitters. Since I paid for these eggs, I'm giving them the full incubation time (unless I see or smell something). When they don't hatch, then I'll eggtopsy them. The eggs that will hatch a couple days later are more of my hen's eggs and I'm willing to remove them. I pulled 5 of those that had quit/or didn't start.

So if I set 13 black copper maran eggs on March 27, would today be lockdown? We did candle them last night, and had 3 that let light shine from one end to other...so I assume those were non fertile. all the rest show a sizable airsac, and the rest of the egg is dark..and it's very hard to tell with a black copper maran egg anyway.

So, should I lockdown today??? then hatch SHOULD be Wednesday???

YESSSSS!!!!! my friend put his into lockdown yesterday at the same time as me and weirdly enough he has 2 piped on day 18!!! Weird

Wow pips on day 18? wondering if his bator ran a little hot??? .. yeah I didn't get any answers right away, so I just used an online chicken/hatch calculator, and it told me they should be in lockdown..so yesterday about noon they went into lockdown. I've been watching and no pips yet, so just anxiously awaiting the next day or two.

Mine should pip tonight into tomarrow but he is acutely chicken2628 he is in this thread and he said he ran it about 98.8? I'm confused he has 3 out and so far all 3 needed a lot of help or they would have died

Only one needed help out of the egg. All of the others are doing well. All of them have just about hatched. So in all they hatched 1-2 days early.

that's weird how early they were. As of this morning I have one "pipped" that I can see of the 13 Black Copper Marans I set. Looks like today into tomorrow will be "the time"
