I am going to say that's a cockerel. Looks like the comb and wattle are quite large. Also, I believe I see streamers developing, which indicates male.

That's a non bearded cockerel... in MY experience... age though? :pop

My experience means I have seen huge variation in the size of comb and waddles in different lines. The beard gene is a waddle diminish-or... So yours being non bearded will make them appear bigger.

I disagree about seeing streamers on the head... and that shape LOOKS female at THIS point.

AND I feel like in pic # one I *might* be seeing long, flowing, pointy saddle feathers... they are hard to distinguish in Silkies... but once you get familiar, it's a tad easier.

In MY line... I would say cockerel... NONE of hens or pullets sport combs, lobes, or waddles that big. Not knowing the line, makes it a lot harder to give a true educated guess.

Reedley, Ca?! I used to live in the central valley and hit up the taco truck in Reedley in our way home from target hunting in the hills. :frow

Sorry all I did was add to your confusion. :barnie I'm not dead set on cockerel yet. Behavior is a good indicator, and I'm hopeful for pullet for you! :fl

Also... cockerel or pullet is the accurate term before one year old.
