>~* A Howl At Midnight>~* A FORGOTTEN DOGS ROLEPLAY!

(River)
~Midnight nodded to herself, in an impenetrable cloud of thought. "Beta," she muttered to her new successor, "ready the dogs for battle." Her eyes narrowed with abrupt malevolence. "We will be skipping the Star Howl auditions. Tonight, our whole pack will Howl together as a sigh that we are taking back the dominance that should've been ours all along."~
~Breeze exchanged another glance with Raksha as her incredibly keen race-dog ears (I just remembered Breeze is half greyhound.) easily picked up Midnight's orders. "That's odd," she mutered, her ears twitching with confusion, "but I guess it makes sense being we are going into battle at dawn tomorrow. Alpha knows better than to waste time on such things."~

Raksha nodded in agreement, her black pelt becoming nearly as invisible as a shadow in the fading light, and her eyes standing out like sparks amidst a bed of dying embers. "This battle will be remembered forages to come"

~Breeze turned abruptly to the dog of her own kind. "What did you say?" Her brown eyes narrowed in suspicion, almost invisible against her white pelt. "Has Sirius spoken to you?" You've always carried an eerie sort of knowledge I've never been able to match, even as a healer. It wasn't that she didn't trust the she-dog with the pelt of a midnight of dead stars- she just carried a mystique Breeze had failed to comprehend.~

Raksha tensed slightly at Breeze's sudden shock. "No...." She murmured, pondering what to say. "When you've seen as many fights as I have, watched two dogs growl and bristle until they can't stand each other anymore, you just... Know" she growled, her tail growing involuntarily tense. She liked Breeze. She liked Pack life. She hated that her life on the track gave her such an intellectual advantage over so many dogs.

~Breeze dipped her head slowly, acknowledging this. Inwardly, she knew she'd never be able to comprehend the way Raksha thought- Breeze had been a wild dog for the entirety of her life; Raksha's history was woven between the odd mix of a Jailedpet and a race-dog. Breeze knew that her kind ran; race-dogs were created by Notails to race. But that was the extent of her knowledge and, for once, Breeze would like to keep her naivety in that one subject. A shiver of abhorrence, not for Raksha, but the cruelty of Notails and the treatment of the dogs they confined. "I simply cannot comprehend such things," Breeze murnured honestly, the words lingering by her muzzle like steam from the sun-heated River. "For I've never truly fought before."~

"Lucky you" Raksha yipped. "A fight like this.... Were both dogs have been irritating each other all day, competing, holding themselves back for this long.... It will be bloody" she murmured, her hackles bristling subconsciously.

~Breeze let her gaze wander into the darkening forest, contemplating how this would turn out. She turned back to Raksha, muzzle twisted into a frown of utmost solemnity. "Well, Plumepup, Specklepup, Brokenpup, and Fluffpup will all be getting their names tonight before we Howl," she ventured, trying to enlighten the dark conversation. "It's always a good thing when the pack gains more strong hunters, no matter what darkness the future may hold."~

Raksha's gaze instantly brightened. "Yes" she barked. "Although I do worry about Fluffpup a little" she whispered.

~Breeze cocked her head slowly, inwardly irked that another concern had appeared. "Really?" Her left ear twitched in confusion and she scored a claw through the dirt, befuddled that Raksha would suspect the humorous pup of some underlying darkness. "If I were to be concerned about any of them, it's that arrogant Brokenpup."~

~Apple visibly perked up and darted away from the bristling dogs in camp, relieved to be pardoned from the tangible hostility that floated from each muzzle.~
~Midnight nodded gratefully to the three dogs and set off into the woods, her paws already setting the pace at a brisk trot. These dogs are the ones I trust the most. They'd never let the pack down. Not even the weak Apple who constantly sells herself short- even she's a valuable assest.~

Cephus avoided a twig that was in his way. His long tall legs easily trotting alongside his leader.

Birch growled."Brokenpup!"She snapped,"Yes, Beta?"She brown she-yote woofed,"Go with Wolf-Blood Over there.Train with her. Also, Your will be going with Fluffpup, Specklepup and Dotpup for your naming ceremony tonight,"Her voice was snappish and her fur stood slightly on end.The only thing that brought away from her fierceness and stregth was the look of fear that glazed her eyes as she marched away.

~

Brokenpup flinched at the new Beta's words but quickly scampered over to Hollywhaodw.

~Midnight lifted her incredibly keen nose to the musty woodland air and turned to Apple and Cephus as they neared the Storm Pack border. "I don't smell any Storm Pack canines," she murmured as her companions slunk closer to the border. "Cephus, Apple, do you think you can get into their territory and scout around for a few heartbeats?" Her eyes narrowed quickly. "Go find a pile of ferns or rotted leaves to roll in to disguise your scant before going." She dipped her head to Leopard. "You'll be coming with me to stalk the entire perimeter of the boarder for any possibility we can spot the camp from outside."
