~Dotpup, shivering fiercely beneath her fur, swallowed sharply and attempted a quick yip. "Dotpup." She shrank back down, eyeing the two she-coyotes with utmost terror. I'm surrounded by the very pack that belles conjure up stories to tell naughty pups to placate them- and this isn't a story.~
 
~Mink eyed the young pup with a mixture of pity and sadness. This wasn't right- an innocent pup shouldn't have to be the cost of pack rivalry. But there was no way Mink could voice a blatant contradiction to the Beta, so she bit her lip and feigned an emotionless observation. "She looks like a typical dog- weak." Her gaze traveled to Dart, who hung silently within some shadows. "We've got Dart to guard us- Beta, you don't want to miss Alpha's Star Howl initiation."~

(Shadow is a lurcher ;))

Shadow smiled at Dotpup gently. "We aren't going to eat you" she murmured, amused. "What kind of mothers would we be if we killed pups!"

~Dotpup made an attempt to straighten up and her tail twitched an attempted wag. "You... you h-have pups of your own?"~

Shadow nodded. " Brindlepup, Duskypup! Come here, we have a... Visitor." She barked.
 
Brindlepup eagerly scampered over to her mother, while Duskypup trotted along behind. Brindlepup stepped right up to the stranger and began to sniff her. "You're canyon pack!" She yelped in surprise.
Duskypup's eyes grew wide, and she stepped closer to Shadow.

~Calamitypup's ears perked up excitedly at Shadow's call. "I'm coming, too."~
~Mink barked a laugh as Calamitypup barreled out of the belles' den, uncalled for. Mink reached out a paw, and drew her rambunctious daughter to her side. "Calamitypup, this is Dotpup. She'll be staying with us for a bit."~
~Calamitypup eyed the slightly smaller pup curiously, then wrinkled her nose. "Why do you smell all yucky- you don't smell like Rip Pack!"~

Shadow chuckled at Calamitypup.

Duskypup frowned at her sister, shoving her aside and giving her a quick nip in the shoulder. " Have you no concept of courtesy?" She growled.

"Duskypup, she's obviously a prisoner" Brindlepup hissed. "Why should we have to be nice to her?"
~
Shadow smacked Brindlepup with a forepaw. "Enough" she barked sharply.
~
Duskypup stepped closer to Dotpup, giving her tail a small wag. "I'm Duskypup" she woofed.

~Calamitypup beamed up at Shadow, once again oblivious to underlying tension of any sort.~
~Mink watched Duskypup and Dotpup exchange formalities with a satisfied smile. Well, the little pup has got a friend now- a temporary one, but a friend alas.
~Dotpup dipped her head in the customary respect to a higher-ranking canine, though the other pup couldn't be more than a moon older than her. "I'm Dotpup," she woofed, her own tail waving slightly in spite of herself. "It's nice to meet you, Duskypup."~
