A humane way to handle male chicks?

Most likely they will meet their end in a stew pot, but you shouldn't feel bad about that. Feel good that the chicken you are eating had a chance to see the sun, have grass between its toes, eat bugs, and get lucky with the ladies;)
Those fake factory chickens in the grocery store are the ones that really have it rough. They don't get any of that. You are making the best out of the situation.
Does because somebody else kills your food doesn't mean that you weren't responsible for its death. We all gotta eat, at least youe chicken was treated well before it was time to butcher.
I think thats one of the bes things about raising poultry. You get so close to your food that you feel guilty not eating the leftovers. You respect life more because you are closer to death.
Now "tickle, tickle" cheer up.

Great news, everyone - I found a nice woman on a farm who will take them! She's got her own day-old flock and will add my boys to it. they'll have a good old time with new friends.

Thanks again to everyone who gave advice and support. Feelin' good!

Great that you found someone who wants them. Unfortunately, sometimes the best solution is to destroy them as soon as you know that they are roosters. Sad but to true.

I raise everything I get. If I don't need the roos, they go to the crock pot. The only birds I put down are the ones that just aren't going to make it; i.e. sick, deformed, etc.

I am so glad you found somewhere for them! And I agree that it is not inhumane to raise them for food. Much mre humane than the factories. That one that I saw debeaked just broke my heart.

Killing them at day old or 12 week about the same. they are still being killed.

The sad thing is you need to ship that many to keep them warm. Real answer would be order more so they dont have to add the free chicks.

Also nothing wrong to sell them to a pet shop for snake food.

Before getting upset now, they end up as food in most cases.

Sad thats what happen with most males. Be it chicken, lambs, cattle, turkey, and etc.
