A Journey Through a Different Way - Funny Story Pg. 69

Hey Lady glad to hear an update from you. How is the little pup and the beagle doing? Ya forgot them in your update.

I can't see you giving up on anything.

Glad to hear you are still around.

What pup? You mean this big, bad girl?

Prissy rules the roost around here. Loves to do a "run by" and make the chickens jump and fly. She and Scarlett are still best of friends and love to play tug.

The beagle disappeared as quickly as it appeared. We first found a man who said he wanted it since he had a couple of hunting dogs and wanted another one. Two weeks later we heard the man had lost his job and hunting season was over so guess who showed back up in our yard - Yep, Butler (as we had named him). He only stayed a day or two and then disappeared again so he could have gone back to his original home or he could have gotten eaten by coyotes because when they would start howling at night it was Butler who could be heard running and baying all through the woods. I like to think he went back home.

Morning......I love seeing Scarlett in the middle of your feathered friends.. We have a Pit mix, Titan and he gets in the middle of ours too. While they are babies in the kitchen he does a "head count" of them all of the time. When they are out in the yard he will get in the middle of them when they are fussing at each other. He also helps me round them up at night so I can lock them up. And then just for fun he will run through the middle of them when they don't expect it. I think I have even seen a little smile on him while he is doing this!!!

I hope your other two pups learn their jobs! Maybe it is because they have each other to "point the paw at" that it may take a little longer.

Everything looks beautiful around your farm. I have learned that we can't get it all done at once...and who really wants to! I am really looking forward to fall though. We have had a weeks worth of cool nights.....enough to leave the front door open at night.....and I am so ready.

Thanks Cyn - I've been so busy with summer and this heat - just trying to keep everything alive and watered is a full time job. Plus we are making a real effort to finally get everything out of our Covington home which is just sitting there costing us lots of money every month. So once a week DH goes and does some packing and brings back a load of "junk". After a year and half of being gone, there's nothing from there I need at this point. Now he's bringing back all of the junk from the kids' rooms and various closets and attics. So in addition to company here every weekend and lots of animals to care for and a large vegetable garden and flower gardens and an old home to restore - and did I mention my "real job" the full-time e-mail based business - I now have boxes everywhere waiting for me to go through them and decide what to keep and pack away and what to donate or trash. Only problem is (well not only problem, there are many)

is that my Covington home had over 1,000 sq. ft. of closets and this home has zero. My daughter's closet was so big that we used one end as a spare bedroom and put a double bed, dresser, and large player organ in there and let her use the other end as her closet. Her many sleep-over friends got to sleep "in the closet".

On a good note - I was able to hire a teenage girl for the summer who comes each morning and helps with getting everyone fed and watered and cleans nest boxes and coops and stalls so that's a real blessing. It's a relief knowing that I don't have to hit the floor running each morning and get out there immediately to start letting everyone out and get them all fed.

It will be a relief when some of this searing heat leaves us but I'm sure you all remember how cold I was that first winter, nearly froze to death, so I'm learning to be careful what I wish for.

Boy girl do I understand the be careful what ya wish for lesson LOL. Here we are having are normal fall for summer, we had one week of really bad heat now we get a muggy day now and then.

Glad you could hire help, those are the kind of chores that take up all your time.

Well don't let those boxes get you down. Put them in one or two of those extra bedrooms and take it one box at a time. You know out of sight out of mind LOL. Just close the door till you have time to tackle them again. Going thru those boxes are for winter or bad weather LOL.

Well that is what I would do for now. In fact that is what I am doing now LOL. It works ok for me. I feel like I got something done even if I only do one box a day. I load what I am taking to the good will in my van the night before I go and then I am not over taken by boxes to haul to them either.

They are my first stop in town, then I have the peace of knowing I gave and that it is gone LOL.
