a Lavendar Gene

I just hatched a batch of chicks from my cochin roo. One of the hens is a lavender. Now I have a chick that looks like a lavender. So if this is a lavender chick my roo has the lavener gene, correct? If this is so it's saving me a step of having to breed offsping to produce another lavender.

If the chick is lavender, then yes, both parents have the gene.

That would be outstanding. I hatched a couple of lavender chicks from eggs I bought from a BYC member. Thoes 2 chicks and the one that hatched from my eggs look the same.
