My husband and I started beekeeping in 2015 and decided to leave the city in 2017 to start a farm. I worked on a farm for a summer when I was 7 years old and have wanted to be a farmer ever since.
We now have 100 layers and a few roos. All Black Australorps and Rhode Island Reds. We also have 2 chinese geese along with our 30 hives and are hoping to add ducks and a cow or two with a donkey...but only when we're done renovating everything haha!
My hubby kept his full time job but I left mine to farm full time so I sell eggs, chicks, roos, laying hens, meat chicken, honey, beeswax products and also fruits and veggies from my half acre garden that I sell mostly at the farmer's market in the village closest to us.
It's been a dream come true and the Back Yard Chickens community has been my biggest help for the past 3 years dealing with sooooo many chicken surprises. It's about time I join the community because I have questions too haha!
Thanks to everyone who unknowingly helped me and will in the future!
