Which island do you live on?
Asagi Hatchery is on Oahu in Kalihi. I love their website. They sell fruit trees too, sigh...I miss my calamansi!!!
We lived on Oahu for fifteen years, didn't have chickens there but I know there are plenty. Lots of free rangers, lol---behind Honda Windward in Kaneohe or in the parking lot of Safeway in Kailua

. Free if you're really fast.
We won't mention the fighting chickens.

You might try Craigslist for your island but the only ones I see on Oahu are broilers, not suitable for laying. Not much on the neighbor islands except for some nice Australorps in Makawao.
If you have a neighborhood FB buy and-sell-page you could join that and post an "in search of" post asking about chickens.
BTW, I love my big Buff girls. Friendly, curious, funny---big mush balls.
Asagi, mentioned in a previous post, looks like the best bet.

Best of luck with your search---chickens are fun!
