Day 22 --


22 Chicks:
1 BCM, 3 Barnevelder, 4 EE, 4 Silkie, and 10 Serama

1 Serama Zipping

4 Unpipped eggs:
2 EE, 1 Maran, and 1 Serama

2 chicks DOA:
1 Silkie died mid-zip
1 Serama not doing well
 
not bad at all! happy about the serama, my friends tell me they can be hard to hatch sometimes.

And that Serama that wasn't doing very well seems to have snapped back for now. I am amazed at how hardy these little ones are. The first one I helped out was oozing yolk through the pip. I was sure it would drown. I finally popped in to get it and helped it a bit. Besides needing a bath, it's been the most outspoken and strongest (and tiniest) one hatched! These second one was in the shell for almost 36 hours with a pip that had been slimed by some siblings. I had several problems with helping it out over 5 or 6 hours (including putting it back for bleeding twice), and finally had to unglue it's eye and wing from the shell. it's hopping about and peeping in there now. Hope they both survive completely!
