A long, disapointing weekend. but looking foward to Spring!

ya. I know. but i still think it was bacteria, due to the strange color of the yolk and there was also this brownish/greenish ooz around the chick+yolk. Really strange.
But thanks everyone for the replies.
Now what am I gonna post about on here???!!! LOL all i ever did was talk about the egg, but now that it's gone, I don't know what to talk about. Not much happening with our pullets, hens, or roosters LOL.

I guess I will just see what's happening with other peeps now!

77, I don't think you'll have too much talking, LOL. I think we would all like to see pics of all your other chickens. I'm sure you can come up with a million questions about chickens. I'm sure you feel like you don't know what to talk about because of your focus on that egg, but you should give yourself a few days and I'm sure you will feel different

SO sorry, 77 horses. I was really cheering that little guy/girl on! I know a little how you felt as when my eggs hatched (under mama) and she didn't get out of nest for 2 days, I finally pulled her off checked and I had one egg that had a little hole pecked thru the end, including membrane open. I opened it to see what happened also, and still feel guilty I didn't do more to help. The chick looked fully developed, yoke was all absorbed, and I keep thinking it was just trying to get out and no one helped it! Now I believe nature intends the strong to live, the weak to die, so strong species continue. That gets me by. By the way, those 2 foster GJ's and 2 of her's are doing Great! Please keep trying for your little chicks, the next time will be great! Sharon

77, I'm so sorry. :aww I know how much you wanted this chick. Sounds like Dad is on board and ready to build you a coop, so try again next spring and fill it to the brim with little chickies!
