Can this work? I don't know what sex my two ducklings are so this would be a possibility and wanted to know how this would work. Thanks.

*I'm* certainly hoping this can "work!" I've got a drake and a female, 8 wks old, which I'll be added to a flock of chickens. I'm hoping the drake won't be too "interested" in the hens, and just be satisfied with his single lady friend.

I'd sure love to hear more from others about this situation, though!

I have one female and one male and they work out fine. My male is a very well mannered male and doesn't bug my female all day. It will just depend on how your male turns out to be when he matures. Some are fine with one female some need 3 or more just for the sake of the poor females that get beat up during mating.

I hope this works out for you....but it didn't for me. I bought 2 pekins last year (asked for 2 females but got 1 male/a female) and 4 chickens. Well, not the drake has come of age and he wants to mate with the hens which can be damaging (if not fatal) to the hens because of anatomical differences so now I'm in a quandry. My kids don't want to give James away so I need to keep him seperate with his femal duck so I'll probably have to build another coop/shelter for the ducks and now get 2 more female pekins. Up to now I was able to house and feed them all together.
