A man should know his limits

Man has no limitations! But, then again, neither do forsythia bushes. I have an annual fight with one up along the East side of our house. It's been a draw for 46 years.

Edited to indicate that : MEN have no limitations- the all invincible.

Hmmm sounds like you all need some yucca stumps..........

But only if you want to give your real men a project later on.....................

My DH LOVES forsythia. I planted two of them last year and now realize that they will have to be moved. Fortunately we live in the middle of a field, so there are plenty of places to put them; they're just too close to the house. He also loves wisteria, and I think it is something akin to the Black Plague. Ditto for pampas grass; I spent two years in Charleston with a pick-axe digging a clump out of our front yard. Dynamite never occurred to me, darn it! Like they say... a weed is just a plant in the wrong place.

Those are beuatufll bushes when manicured!! I've been whining for a gardenia tree forever but we are just too cold to have them grow:-(
How long does it take for a magnolia tree to bloom or sprout???

I've read anywhere from 30 to 50 years for a magnolia tree to get to maturity. The one up at the old homestead is at least 50 years old. It is magnificent when it blooms.

I didn't believe either hibiscus or gardenias would grow here given our winters, but both of these thrive. I'll have to get a pic of the hibiscus in full bloom. Beautiful thing.

Magnolia come in more than one type, some even small bush, southern, sweet bay, star , they will bloom long before 30 years many many years early. if i remember right think 7 years for southern, few year for sweet bay and star 1 or 2 years.

This is a saucer magnolia.

No offense, I won't use roundup, not at all, nowhere on this farm.

meh he's going about it wrong. if i can kill 2 acres of kudzu vines he should be able to kill one little bush.

for stumps try an extra long paddle bit in a drill and pack the hole with salt. for bushes get a goat. it's how i beat the kudzu. they will eat down every sprig that comes up. just leave his pen small enough he eats everything in it. must provide feed as well. kudzu took around 50 goats.

Easy Peasy Gritty.
I have an 100% guaranteed way to kill that pesky thing.

Dig it up and put it where you would LOVE to have it.
It'll be stone dead in a week.

Has worked on every single bush I've tried to transplant.

And BTW, we DO NOT have limitations, we have challenges!
