I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but I want to have some record of one of my favorite chickens. Yesterday an animal attacked two of my roosters, one was severly injured and had a low chance of recovering, so I decided it was best to put him down. I think he knew it was time to go because this morning he just laid down in one of the nesting boxes and let me pet his head. I have been fortunate to have such friendly roosters, and he was no exception. His name was Akun, a beautiful red and black americana. He has always been a very friendly bird, he used to eat out of my hand and go for walks with me around the yard, on top of that he was one of the most beautiful birds I have ever owned. Though he was kind to me, he was pretty rough with the other roosters, with the exception being a small rooster named Freddy. (Akun was a little too close to him if you catch my drift) I already miss him so much and I'm heart broken that he had to go with so much pain, but I'd like to think he's somewhere running through the grass chasing after bugs. Thanks for reading and helping me say good bye to my sweet friend, please let me know if there is somewhere more appropriate for this post to go.
